Many Christians believe that Christ died for their sins but they neglect the part that in Christ they are made the Righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21) In this post I want to talk about how we are no longer sinners, not even pardoned sinners but the righteousness of God in Christ. When a Man calls on the name of the Lord, he does so by accepting that he is a sinner but from that moment on-wards he is the Righteousness of God in Christ (by grace, through faith). (Romans 3:22). In his Spirit, that is in his inner man he is no longer a sinner but Righteousness.
Isaiah 1:18
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
God says he shall make you as white as snow. You shall be like wool. All this is true of you in your Spirit.
Psalm 103:12
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
God has removed our sin from us as far as the east is from the west. This speaks of all your transgressions in the past, present and future.
Hebrews 9:12
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
God foresaw the sins you would commit in the future and once and for all put the punishment of all sin, past present and future on Jesus Christ. He has obtained eternal redemption for us. If this were not true then Christ would have had to die over and over again. But Jesus Christ proclaimed at the time of his death: It is finished. (John 19:30) Eternal Redemption is a done deal and you can be sure today that all your sins, past, present and future are separated from you as far as the east is from the west.
Jeremiah 31:33-34
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
In this verse, God says he will remember your sins no more.
2 Corinthians 5:17-19
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
The Bible says that God is no longer imputing our trespasses unto us. When we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior we are imputed righteousness without works. We are made right with God in the past, present and future. David prophetically speaks of this righteousness in the following scripture:
Romans 4:6-8
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. (Psalm 32:1-2).
David says that blessed is he whose iniquities are forgiven, whose sins are covered, blessed is the Man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. Believe it or not this verse is speaking about you. God is no longer imputing sin to you.
Isaiah 54:9
For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
God also says that he will never get angry with you or rebuke you. When you do fail or fall short of the glory of God as a believer it is not God who rebukes you or gets angry with you but it is your conscience that condemns you. Rather God, the Holy Spirit is the one who comforts you and says to you: get up, give it another try, just trust me and believe me the next time... I do not condemn you, go and sin no more. (John 8:11). That is the ministry of the Holy Spirit. No wonder he is called the Comforter. (John 14:25-26) The Holy Spirit comforts you and tells you that God is not angry with you and that God loves you. The Holy Spirit reminds you that God is not imputing sin to you and that you are indeed righteousness without works. This is the positive Ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 10:10
By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Hebrews 10:14
For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
The above scriptures make it very clear that we are sanctified once and for all. God has perfected us forever in our Spirit.
To summarize all that I have said: In your born-again Spirit... you are white as snow, your sins are separated from you as far as the east is from the west, you have eternal redemption, God remembers your sins no more, God is no longer imputing sin to you, God will never get angry with you or rebuke you, he has sanctified you once and for all and he has perfected you forever. Now isn't that Good News? I do not know about you but I feel like praising and worshiping God right now for being so good to me...
2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
