Let me begin by shedding some light on the scriptures. Jesus Christ said that the Old Testament scriptures spoke of Him. (John 5:39) (Luke 24:27) (Luke 24:44-49). So the entire Old Testament is a Revelation of Jesus Christ. That itself is an amazing Truth. The Bible you hold in your hand is divine and was supernaturally put together to proclaim Christ to you. In this post I will talk about the story of the Israelites being delivered from Egypt but I am going to narrate it in such a way that you see Christ in the scriptures.
Now a lot of things in a bible are types or shadows of New Testament realities. Egypt is a type for the world, the Pharaoh is satan and Israelites in slavery represent the people of the world. So when you put all this together you have the world, you have Satan and people who are in slavery to Satan. This is really what the story is all about. People need someone to deliver them from Slavery. (Ephesians 2:1-2)
Also the people who were in slavery were sons and daughters of Adam and were all sinners in the sight of God. (Romans 3:23) (Romans 3:10). That was the situation for the people of Egypt and this is also the situation for the people of the world. The Righteousness of God demands that a sinner die or be eternally separated from him in hell. (Genesis 2:16-17) (Romans 6:23) (Ezekiel 18:20). Now that is fair, it is as simple as a Righteous judge sentencing a thief or murdered to prison. So the People need to be delivered from judgement as well.
So the people of this world need deliverance from slavery and deliverance from judgement. All this culminates at one point, the plague of the first born. (Exodus 11-12). Now what did God want the Israelites to do? That is what we are going to concentrate on here. God said that they had to take a lamb and kill it. Then he instructed them to take a hyssop and dip it in the blood and put it on their door posts. (Exodus 12:21-23). God said that when the angel comes to strike down the first born, he will see the blood and pass over the house of the Israelites.
The lamb was a type for the Lord Jesus Christ who was sacrificed for our sins. (1 John 2:2). Notice that the judgement of God passed over the Israelites only after they put their faith in the blood that was shed. This a perfect picture of our salvation. The judgement of God passes over us when we put our faith in the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross for us. (Romans 3:25) (Colossians 1:20) (1 Peter 1:18-19) (Leviticus 17:11). When we put our faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ we are also delivered from the dominion and slavery of Satan over our lives. (Colossians 2:15) (Exodus 6:6). The Bible says we have been called out of darkness into God's marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9) (Colossians 1:13-14). So I hope you see now that your faith in Christ has set you free from Slavery and Judgement. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, that is ok, you can get yourself saved today. All you got to do is confess him as your Lord and Savior and believe that he died for your sins, was buried and rose again on the third day. (Romans 10:9) (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
