By the end of this post, I am sure you will have one very good reason not to sin. The Bible speaks about how sin does not just happen but there are stages that take place before it is conceived and completed (James 1:14-15). The following diagram should make this clear:
Today we are going to talk about the biggest deception of Sin.
Sin always begins with a lust. You could be on a diet and tempted to eat the ice-cream in the fridge. When you entertain and give place to that thought you begin to get drawn away by your lust and enticed. You really begin to desire that ice-cream. This is how sin is conceived.
Just like a Man gives his seed to the woman and a child is conceived, something like that happens when you entertain lusts and begin to embrace them. Once sin is conceived, it is only a matter of time before the baby is born or the act of sin takes place. It began with a lust for ice-cream and it ends with all the ice-cream in fridge going straight into your tummy. Now if this is where it all ends, that wouldn't be that bad, right? If all that happens is sin, then sin isn't that bad after all. But wait a minute, just like the diagram shows us, the act of sin is not the final stage. When sin is completed, it brings forth death. You feel terrible when you are done eating all the ice-cream and you can be sure you are not going to loose any weight by the end of the week. This is sin's biggest deception.
People always participate in sin with this false notion that death will not follow. They believe that they can sin and get away with it. They believe they can escape the consequences but that is never the case. Sin will and always will end up in death. Now death isn't just falling down and dying, but death is the loss of something good. Many people have lost their families, businesses, children, health and serenity because of sin. Now you could say God will forgive me, and that is absolutely true. God will never bring up your sin after you put your faith in Christ. The bible says he remembers your sins no more. (Jeremiah 31:34). He has separated our sins from us as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12). So there will be no condemnation from God (Romans 8:1), but you can be sure that sin will result in death. You will lose something. We never think about the consequences that will follow our sins, but we should...
In the book of proverbs, Solomon recalls what his father said about sin. He says:
The lips of an adulteress woman drip with honey and her speech is smoother than oil. (Proverbs 5:3). Now let us all be honest, sin is pleasurable. Sin does taste sweet, at-least in the beginning. When you participate in sin for the first time, it is sweet and the bible also says the same-thing. But the bible also adds something very important. It says that this pleasure only lasts for a season (Hebrews 11:25). And when the season is over, death will surely follow... You could be enjoying a mistress and an adulterous life for a year or two, but when the season ends, you can be sure that the rest of your life on earth will become hell. Solomon continues by saying:
For the lips of an adulterous woman drip honey,
And her mouth is smoother than oil;
But in the end she is bitter as wormwood,
Sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death,
Her steps lay hold of hell (Proverbs 5:3-5)
Sin is sweet in beginning but the end is always bitter. Imagine a sharp two-edged sword cutting you all over; that is what death feels like. That is how you should look at sin. Always think about the consequences, do not be deceived because death will always follow Sin.
If you are struggling with sin and are tired of continuously falling into the trap of sin and death; If you want to be delivered from the dominion of sin, you can be set free today.
What you need is the power to say 'No' when sin comes your way. You do no have to face your temptations alone. You can have help. (Hebrews 4:15) (John 14:15-19). All you got to do is receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and believe that Jesus died for your sins, was buried and rose again on the third day. (Romans 10:9) (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) (Romans 8:1-2). (Read | Media and Entertainment)
