In the earlier post I taught you that man is made up of 3 parts: Spirit, Soul and Body. (1 Thessalonians 5:23). When you receive Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior, God changes your Spirit. I also said that every born-again believer will receive a new glorified body when Jesus Christ returns. If you haven't read the earlier posts I urge you to do so. In this post we will talk about the salvation of the soul.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things have passed away; behold all things are become new.
It is important to note that one third of your salvation was completely over when you receive Jesus Christ as Lord. You are made perfect in your Spirit. You are made Righteousness Nature. You are made holy just as God is holy. And as I have already mentioned earlier, your body will be saved when Jesus Christ returns in glory. So what about your Soul?
The soul or mind the Bible teaches is being saved more and more each day. God changes our Spirit. God promises to change our body, but God doesn't promise anywhere in the Bible to change our soul. God has provided a Counselor and Guide (the Holy Spirit) to help us change our soul, but God does not miraculously change all our thoughts, imaginations and strongholds the instant we are saved. For example: you might have had the fear of public speaking before you were saved, chances are you still have the fear of public speaking. However you can break this stronghold by renewing your mind to the Word of God. The same is true for all fears, negative thoughts and negative emotions.
For it is written:
Romans 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Paul is clearly telling the believers in this verse to renew their minds. The renewing of the mind is the sole responsibility of the believer. You have to take the effort to renew your mind to the Word of God under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. You need to make the time to read the bible, listen to preachers, pastors and read articles like this one. Only then can you break your past strongholds, cast down imaginations and bring every thought to the obedience of Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)...
