2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.
When you receive Jesus Christ as Lord, God gives you a New Spirit. You are given a Righteousness Nature (right standing before God). We have already spoken about these things and if you haven't followed us up-till now I encourage you to go back and read the earlier posts. In this post I want to talk about Salvation in relation to Man's Spirit, Soul and body.
Man is made up of three parts: Spirit, Soul and Body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). In the earlier post I already made it clear that your Body doesn't change when you receive Jesus Christ as Lord, it is your Spirit that changes.
For it is written:
Ezekiel 36:26
A new heart also will I give you, and a new Spirit will I put within you.
So what about the body?
The bible gives every born-again believer a promise that they will receive a new glorified body when Jesus Christ returns in glory. This is when mortality will put on immortality.
For it is written:
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:51-57
We will talk about the soul in the next post.
