Who we are in Christ - 5

In earlier post, I taught you that your Spirit is made a New creature when you receive Jesus Christ as Lord, your body will be made new when Jesus Christ returns and your Soul is being made a New creature more and more, to the extent that you renew your mind to the Word of God. I urge you to read the earlier posts before you read this one. In this post, I we will talk about the functions of the Spirit, Soul and Body. 

1 Thessalonians 5:23

And the very God of  peace, sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole Spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The above verse clearly teaches that Man is made up of three parts: Spirit, Soul and Body. Now catch this statement that I am going to make, for it will completely change the way to see yourself: "Man is a Spirit, He has a soul and He lives in a body".  

When you look at yourself in the mirror, it is important you realize that you are not your body. You are a Spirit, you have a soul and you live in a body. The Spirit part of you looks into the world through the window of your eyes. To understand this better let us understand the functions of the Spirit, Soul and body. I have decided to begin with the body, because it is the easiest to understand. I will then talk about the Soul and Spirit in relation to the functions of the body. So lets Begin... The function of the Body, Soul and Spirit are as follows: 

P.S. :- You are not a Body, you are a Spirit. So the right way to say it is: I am a Spirit, Soul and Body, but I have written it in the opposite order: Body, Soul and Spirit, only for explanation sake. 

Body - Bone, Flesh and Blood

Soul - Intellect, Emotions and Will

Spirit - Intuition, Communion and Conscience

The function of the bone in the body is to give structure. Imagine yourself without bones. You would be like a doormat. And if that were so, somebody could surely roll you up and put you in the corner. But Praise God for bones.

You will notice that I have put Intellect right below Bone and Intuition right below Intellect. That also, is for explanation sake. What the bone does for the body, the intellect does for the Soul and the Intuition for the Spirit. The Intellect or mind gives structure to the Soul. And Intuition which is an inner knowledge, gives structure to the Spirit. Intuition is not like mind knowledge, rather it is an inner knowing. Not everyone in world wants to understand God intellectually. There are some people who just say that they know that there is a God. It is an inner knowing and that is exactly what intuition is. When God gives us a Revelations from the Word of God, it is given to us in the form of Intuition. The Spirit of God communicates with our Spirit.

For it is written: 

1 Corinthians 2:9-12

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
