This post is part of a Series and I therefore request you to please read the earlier posts before you read this one. (Read: The Kingdom of God Series)
The bible says: for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17)
In the this post, we would like to give you some illustrations from the bible to help you understand what it really means to be righteous in the sight of God.
In the book of Numbers we read about the story of the prophet Balaam. In that story the prophet looked at Israel and said these words: “God has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel, The Lord his God is with him, (Numbers 23:21)
The Israelites were not perfect people. They we always grumbling and in rebellion with God. (Psalms 106:13-46) Yet God said through the prophet: God has not observed iniquity, nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. This is exactly what it is like for a born-again Christian.
When God looks at you in the Kingdom, He does not see your sin or mistakes. He says to you: I do not observe your inquiry, nor see wickedness in you. This is what it means to be righteous.
It is like Solomon said to his wife: You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you. (Song of Solomon 4:7) “Open for me, my sister, my love, My dove, my perfect one; (Song of Solomon 5:2)
I believe, a man who can look at his wife with all her mistakes and imperfections and say to her: there is no spot in you, my love, my perfect one is a man who understands God's love for him and the gift of righteousness.
When God looks at you He says: There is no spot in you. You are my love, my perfect one. God is Spirit and He looks at you in the Spirit. (John 4:24) I have already spoken about our unity with God in an earlier post. (Read: Saints 01) It is because you are one with Christ that God can look at you and say these words. When God looks at you in the Kingdom, He does not see you but Jesus.
In the book of Hebrews we read that we are sanctified once for all and perfected forever. (Hebrews 10:10) (Hebrews 10:14)
I pray that you will make this your mindset. When God looks at you in the Kingdom, it does not matter what sin you did yesterday, He does not see it, nor impute it to you. (Romans 4: 6-8) In the sight of God you are perfect. (2 Corinthians 5:21) You are a Saint.
