I have been speaking about prayer from the last 3 posts. In the previous post, I taught you that one of the primary focuses of prayer is to thank God, praise God, worship God and fellowship with God. I urge you to read the earlier posts before you read this one. In this post we will talk about making petitions to God. Ok, so lets continue...
When you ask God for something, you do not ask him with a question mark. You do not say give us today our daily bread? Will you? Or will you not? You ask God like a child speaks to his Father.
What is a child like? He comes home and says mom… dad, I am hungry, and I want something to eat. The child is not speaking out of arrogance; he is just taking advantage of the relationship he shares with his parents. He already knows that his parents want to provide for him. That is how you got to be with your Father in heaven.
If you ask anything according your Father's will, he hears you and like a child you must know in faith that you have the petition, you desire from Him.
Matthew 7:7-11
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
